📖 Description
I asked my mother to write these stories down when I was working on two volumes of autobiographical essays by women while I was an editor for Honno, the Welsh Women’s Press. I realized how important her experiences were while working on Parachutes and Petticoats (1992) and Iancs, Conshis a Spam (2002). I have kept her original manuscript as a precious memory of all the hours we spent together on this project as well as a charming reminder of her undiagnosed dyslexia.
My mother entrusted these memories to me in 1991. On her 90th birthday, twelve years later, I presented them to her, all my siblings and my three children as my small effort to honor the sacrifices of the greatest generation of Americans to this day.
