31 Days To Becoming a Man of God: Practical Life Lessons From The Men of the Bible. Adam Through Noah

31 Days to Becoming a Man of God is a devotional series designed to be a short daily reading that will delve beyond the surface stories concerning the men in the Bible and cut straight into some very valuable and practical applications that husbands and fathers (as well as men in general) of the 21st century need in order to become strong men of God. This is not designed as a deep Theological book, but rather a devotional that looks at the examples (both good and bad) of the men that grace the pages of the Bible.

In this first volume, designed for you to read one entry a day for a month, we will look at some very practical life lessons we can learn from Adam, Cain and Abel, Enoch and Methuselah, and Noah. Be ready to let God convict of you of areas in which you need to grow as we look at these men this month:

Adam: The Original Man

Throughout history, Adam has really received a bad rap. Almost any time Adam is mentioned in conversation or in a message from a preacher, he is held up as a negative example. He is, after all, the person who brought sin into this world. Therefore, if he is ever used as an example, it is always in the “what not do” category.

But for this month, let’s put aside those negative thoughts about Adam and look at a few positive aspects of the original man. He was not all bad. As we look at the life of Adam this month, let’s see what lessons God wants the 21st century man to learn from him.

Cain and Abel: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

In the story of Cain and Abel, we see the first two people who were actually born on earth as babies and grew up to be men. Cain was the first born and immediately became the pride and joy of his mother (Genesis 4:1). Later she gave birth to her second son and named him Abel. These two brothers grew up together, each with different interests and gifts, This month, we are going to look at their lives to learn from both their good and bad examples.

Enoch and Methuselah: A Life That Was Changed By His Son.

We are not told a lot in the Bible about either Enoch or his son Methuselah. Their stories are told in the “and then he died” chapter in the Bible. The whole chapter goes through generations of men from Adam all the way to Noah with very brief snippets telling who their kids are followed by how long they lived before saying, “and then he died.” But in our brief encounter with these two men this month, we will see some very valuable lessons we can learn.

Noah: Standing Strong in the Midst of Adversity.

If Enoch lived in really bad times, Noah lived in a much worse time. As you probably know, Noah lived in what is most likely the worst time in the history of man. It was so bad that God was ready to give up on His creation and destroy them all. But he found one family that He could count on and decided to basically reboot the human race using that one family. As we look at the account of Noah this month, we see he is the first man in the Bible who gets a lot of attention. We know more about Noah than anyone who came before him. And there is a lot we can learn from him.
