Photographing the Elk Rut at Rocky Mountain National Park - 2012

If you want to know how a professional photographer does it, here is a detailed account of a real trip to the Rocky Mountains to photograph elk during mating season. This was not a trip for a magazine article or driving a bunch of people around and calling it a Photography Workshop. This was an actual trip to return with sellable photos which will be printed on canvas or matted prints and sold at Art Shows. A Photo Gallery of images taken on various days and with different equipment is included with some analysis. I hope the diary and large photo gallery will make you feel like you were along on the trip. Besides being a trip report this is also a "How to Photograph Wildlife Guide" since I discuss shooting and equipment strategies from where and when to go at Rocky Mountain National Park to lens selection and camera settings. This report includes a day by day and sometimes hour by hour diary of a working pro doing his job of photographing on location.
