An Email From Mom - email advice from parents to their kids! (Life Advice Series)

In times gone by parents imparted wisdom to their offspring by writing them a letter to be opened when they come of age. Today such written words are usually reserved for that modern equivalent - the email.

With this in mind I set out to write an email to my son which gave the best advice I could think of for his life ahead. I enjoyed the process and then got to thinking what other parents might say in a similar email. I therefore decided to approach 12 talented writers and and ask them to write their children a similar email. This ebook is the result!

To give you a flavor of what's inside, here's one of those authors advising his son for the future;

"Son,

I can hardly believe you are already 18 years old. The time has passed by so quickly, and it seems only a few short years ago that your mother and I were watching you take your first steps. But this is a time to be looking forwards, not backwards. The reason I'm writing this letter is to give you some insights into what you can expect from the world.

As you read this, your first reaction might be skepticism. This is natural enough, and even a good thing up to a point. The world is a very different place now than it was when I was your age. Yet, believe it or not, many of the most important things are still the same.

First of all, be honest with everyone -most of all yourself. It's important to set goals, but they have to be ones that will make you happy. You can get advice from others, but in the end you must figure out what is going to bring you the most fulfillment.

When you have decided upon a goal, don't look for shortcuts. Anything worth achieving takes a certain amount of time and effort. Looking back, one thing I remember is that I felt the most pride and satisfaction over those accomplishments that I had to work for.
