In the past, three men have become betrothed to Miss Emma Partrick and all three came to disastrous ends. But Emma's misfortunes ought not have any bearing on the happiness of her beloved aunt, and so she is in a celebratory mood as they travel to Cornwall for a Christmas house party at the home of Aunt Daisy's beau, Lord Michael.
