Quadratic Equations: improved with more problems and correct display

This book introduces quadratic equations and polynomial equations in general. Fundamental theorem of Algebra that every polynomial has a root is stated without proof. The book describes how solving quadratic equations extended the number system from rational number to real numbers through discovery of irrationals and from real numbers to complex numbers through imaginary numbers. The latter enabled solving polynomial equations of any degree. The book also introduces continued fraction, a seemingly vacuous solution of quadratic equations, but turns our to be useful in representing quadratic surd in closed forms. The golden ratio, the nature's most favored ratio is also introduced The concept of fixed point and Pi-card's iteration process to numerically calculate a root of any equation including transcendental equations almost axiomatically. Many application to physics including uniformly accelerated motion, stopping distance, Bernoulli theorem, projectiles are also discussed.The graph of quadratic equation in general and conic sections and parabola in particular are are discussed showing how conic sections are really plane sections of cone and derived also by mere compression of coordinates, revealing meanings of eccentricity thereby. A large number of solved problems shall also help in engineering entrance examinations.
