Pearl's. Bak was born in 1892 in West Virginia, but as a child moved with her missionary parents to China, where joining a group of Chinese culture and studied it fully. At the age of eight - ten to the United States and acquired education.
Then returned to China, married an American economist and adopted child of nine children. In 1934, forced to leave China following political tensions. She wrote eighty-five books and won the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1938. Beck died in 1973.
