A Frog in the Kettle Drum
Synopsis

This story is about an alien musician. His name is C. Brewster Rooster
and he was rambunctious in his youth. Rooster is sent on a mission to
locate Howdy Doody, in response to a radio broadcast received several
years earlier. He’s not aware of the Son’s imminent return. He’s not aware
of a lot of things.

Rooster lands just offshore of Maui and makes his way to Lahaina, where he begins his search. He meets Royce, a strait-thinking charter skipper. Royce befriends Rooster and gives him some sailing tips. Before long, Rooster learns that Howdy Doody might be in the White House. He’s off in pursuit of an interview. He encounters troubles along the way and goes into hiding. When he requests assistance from his heavenly friends, he’s told that he’s on his own until the Son arrives, and that he’s to vanguardeer the return, “Yahweh’s orders”.

So, Rooster beckons Royce to his west coast hideout and sells Royce on a plan for a concert on a barge, on a lake, in the middle of a fair grounds in Indiana. Heartland. They rehearse while traveling across America on an old school bus. Royce is not told that Jesus is scheduled to make His triumphant entrance at the concert.

The gang has a few misadventures on their way to the Midwest, but eventually they make it to the Lake County Fair Grounds in Crown Point, Indiana. Jesus shows-up early and joins the band, rehearsing faithfully. Only Rooster knows “Jay’s” true identity. Although there are several obstacles, the concert eventually comes together and Yahweh even shows-up in the VIP section. Rooster is nervous as he gives the downbeat…

Rooster’s co-narrator is a world class, Indiana born, number two pool ball. He goes by Poonie; his girlball is Rollover Rosie. His buddies include Brutus, Easy Ed, Seven Up Sam, and Ralph the Peckerhead. Poonie rolls it straight.
