Description
Fusion welding, with or without the addition of filler metal is the act of bringing metals to the liquid state at the point of juncture (the joint), combining the molten mass, and allowing it to cool to the solid state. While this is over simplifying the process considerably it is the procedure that is followed each time a fusion weld is made. Some of the various methods used when applying heat energy to a joint for welding will be discussed in this book. The oxy-acetylene welding process will be briefly discussed in this book as one heat source. Most of the text materials will be concerned with the use of electrical power as the heat source for welding operations in industry.
