Description
THE BOOK HAS BEEN REFORMATTED, TO INCLUDE BOTH A PC READER VERSION AND A KINDLE READER VERSION; The kindle reader version is in the second part, with a link to skip to that part.
The book is designed to help the ordinary person to understand the difference between traditional building methods and that of the cement age. It contains about 100 colour images of buildings finishes, damage, tools and other pictures of types of buildings.
It is written in an easy style (I hope) that is somewhat different from the normal books on building, which can tend to be a bit dry!
The book explains the differences between the types of lime usage: NHLs and Putty Lime usage.
My friend Johnny Martin MA cons arc, who did the special course on building conservation at York (UK) has written a couple of intros: one general and one for the lime Putty section.
The book has taken some time to put together, and was to be a hard copy, but the first proof that was sent out, was lost and promised input never came! So I decided to use kindle to publish the first edition, and am able to include a lot more pictures than would be feasible on hard copy due to costs of picture printing.
We are looking into publishing it with Create Space which is a print on demand section of Amazon. The images in CS would be B&W due to costs, and a free PDF of the original images would be sent on request, with proof of purchase.
This is a slightly revised edition, as the first attempt on kindle had a format problem I didn't spot, so it has been republished.
