MPW is the sequel to MYRTLE'S ULTIMATE MYSTERY with MUM being the pilot for a cozy mystery series opening with covertly warring covens. Linda Shelnutt notes that she has several reasons [some of which she is not aware] for publishing these chapters in progress. A few of those reasons are detailed in an ENDNOTE in this offering of chapter one.
One of our favorite mystery authors, Robert B. Parker [with his famous Spenser detective] stated that he always did his best in his writing. That’s all he, or anyone, including Hemingway could do, God rest their souls. Parker's books were written for readers who would enjoy them as he wrote them. We're betting that an author of Parker's stature with this seasoned attitude would not have considered publishing chapters of a novel in progress. Due to Parker's statement noted above, he said he didn't read reviews of his work [though his wife did]. Parker added that Hemingway was another author who didn't read reviews of his books.
Shelnutt identifies with Parker's attitudes, yet she avidly reads reviews, even when they tell more about the reviewer than book, maybe especially then. As a parapsychologist Linda is interested in people, in understanding their tastes and motives.
Of course Myrtle hasn't earned the status Spenser has. But it’s a buyer's option to pay to upload these chapters at 99 cents @ or to watch for free promos, or use the read for free subscription option with Amazon Prime!

As of this 2015 update MYRTLE'S PENULTIMATE WALKABOUT, this second book in the Myrtle Drinkwater series, is finished! The Chapter 27 installment provides the last words and final period for this unusual work of high fiction carrying on through a few low realities of multilevel beings!
When chapter 1 was originally published on April 8, 2013, the author was very uncertain whether she would be able to finish this second book in the Myrtle Drinkwater series. She has now begun the third book!
Also, the pair of full length books presenting the MPW storyline in one book and the Endnotes in the other are now available!
The tentative plan is to publish the third book as it's being written, in individual chapter installments, hopefully with Endnotes sharing some of the backstage creative process as was done with MPW.
