Provenance (The Extinction Diaries)

No one ever really talked about the beginning of the end. Chaos and panic enveloped the planet so quickly. Reports of sporadic violence became reports of riots and anarchists behaving badly overnight. The riots were reportedly about immigration rights in Las Vegas or Transit Fares in New York City or whatever the excuse of the day was. The media willingly did their part to keep the public in the dark. The war with North Korea and Iran was almost a perfect distraction. The dirty bomb attack in Maryland only made things more complicated and convoluted. Everything changed though when that reporter from NBC got attacked and killed on national television. Only he wasn’t “dead”. He got up and limped away. It was as shocking as it was ridiculous. No one really realized it but It truly was the beginning of the end of the world that evening. The world was in a state of shock as the President of the United State of America, the single most powerful person in the world, was talking about cannibals. He made a choice that evening that would alter the course of human history. We had a real chance in the beginning, but the puppets in Washington and their corporate masters killed that chance. Their last failure, in a long line of failures, doomed us all.
