Heartbreak and Miracles; My Experiences of Premature Birth, Baby Loss and Disability

When Vicky discovered that she was pregnant at seventeen years old, she knew she was starting a journey, but nobody could have predicted that the journey would bring her such devastating pain and heart soaring happiness along the way. At the age of eighteen, she gave birth to her first son Cory, eleven weeks early. He fought to stay alive for four days before she sadly had to say goodbye. Fifteen months later, Vicky carried a second son, Joseph until thirty six weeks. Over the next twelve years, she gave birth to three further children, Isaac, Ethan and Katelyn, all before thirty four weeks gestation. Her third son Ethan had problems immediately following his birth at thirty one weeks, which resulted in numerous medical conditions, including Cerebral Palsy and Hydrocephalus, which will affect him for the rest of his life.
