Highway Blues is a fascinating book it debunks the idea that it is not only women who suffer abuse - men too, are suffering abuse in silence. The story gets high points and somewhat bitter relationship that ensues between Jekunareta the breadwinner and her husband Mandebvu. Jeku who appears to be like a oaring lioness boasts about her power as a woman and almost rips apart her humble and docile husband. Jeku is inclined to fleshy passions.
Her fast life and abuse of her husband subsequently leads to her own death, that of her husband and her son Tawedzerwa. The story is a tragedy waiting to happen and well told.
