Create Your Own (Photo) Website

This book approaches web design from the viewpoint "Here is a complete website ... let's see how it works." The code for each webpage uses a common template and is fully explained. The reader is expected to have a basic understanding of HTML and MSDOS. Tutorials are included for those who are a bit rusty. Topics covered include HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, JQuery, JSON, video clips, feature detection, email, and a versatile method of "menu-highlighting." A set of photo galleries, that range from simple to complex, are presented along with a web-based text editor for adding "captions" to your slides. A "private access" page provides "password" access to webpages for which there is no public "menu item". This feature is particularly suited to "client proof shots" and "webpage development". Detailed instructions for configuring your PHP server and email are included. Expensive software is not required ... a list of suitable "freeware" is provided.
