Focus On The Assurance of Salvation

"Perhaps you have heard people saying something like this, I do not believe that anyone can know in this life whether or not they are saved. We must all hope for the best, and wait till the Judgment Day for the result. Many members of churches, and many who are known as christian people, do not know whether or not they are saved and do not believe that anyone else can know.

A Christian, however, in the Bible sense of that word, is one who has believed the Gospel, has been converted to Christ and is called a Christian, because he or she has become one. This is clearly shown in the Scriptures in Acts 11.20-26. Here the word Christians first appears in the Bible. It describes those who are disciples of Jesus Christ. A Christian, as the Word of God presents it, is one who has received Christ as a personal Saviour, who is in Christ (Romans 8.1), and who confesses Christ as Redeemer and Lord (Romans 10.9). Such a person is saved by grace (Ephesians 2.8), here and now, and knows it."
