Description

Nautical flags, Boat flags, Signal flags, International maritime signal flags

Whatever you call them, these colorful flags have been in use for hundreds of years aboard boats and ships. Nautical flag letters remain in use today because of their practicality.

Learning what each nautical signal flag represents, and the nautical flags alphabet, is great fun for both kids and adults alike. Additionally, you'll learn the NATO phonetic alphabet which is a very important tool, even though many people don't know the phonetic alphabet properly. Many people don't even know what it is, or that they use it almost every day in their regular day to day routine.

This book is a practically laid out reference guide with, large format, colorful pictures of all the nautical flag letters, and easy to learn descriptions. It also contains a separate section to help you quickly learn the NATO phonetic alphabet, also referred to as ICAO spelling alphabet, or the ITU phonetic alphabet.

You use this alphabet all of the time without even realizing it. You probably substitute some of the words incorrectly when trying to make the spelling of words clear. Learn the right way to use it. Whiskey, Yankee, Zulu, foxtrot, Papa, Bravo - learn them all easily and quickly.

It's as easy as learning your ABC's!

A great quick reference guide for sailors. Have a nautical flag set right on your Kindle.

About the Author

In 2001, 31-year-old Lance Gettler sold everything he owned, bought a sailboat he’d never seen over the internet and went sailing around the world. He didn’t know how to sail and had only been sailing once before, nine years prior.

Lance is now a professional delivery captain, delivering yachts worldwide. From 2005 to 2006, he sailed around the world aboard his 41' ketch with his brother, who didn't know how to sail either. In 2011 alone, he logged more than 12,000 nm at sea aboard three different sailboats.

To the present day, he lives aboard a sailboat in the Caribbean, working on and repairing sailboats. You can read about his experiences in offshore sailing and circumnavigating in "Ask Me Anything About Sailing Around the World".
