Description
A Military Romantic Suspense / medical romance about finding love and meaning no matter how late in life it happens
Joe Dancer arrived at Harvard, a shy loner who somehow fell under the spell of two worldly hippies with agendas of their own. But all three are steeped in the counter culture of the sixties. Rena a beautiful, free spirit and his girlfriend is planning on a Hollywood writing career and his best friend Dan has business ambitions in the sports field. Joe himself is planning on becoming a doctor.
After graduation, Joe enlists in the Navy and is trained as Navy corpsman. Later he is traumatized during the Vietnam War and gives up his ambition to become a medical doctor.
Once back home Joe keeps reliving his stories of war in his mind and seeks out Rena. He needs her love and compassion after witnessing the anguish of war. But she has split town and nobody knows where she went. Dan is little help and eventually Joe gives up his search and settles into life as an ambulance driver in his Massachusetts seacoast town. Joe lost his ambition to advance in the medical field and no longer has any long term goals for becoming a doctor.
He keeps his war stories buried inside for the next twenty years and then has a chance meeting with a female soldier who was present during his military ordeal. With her help he works through his need for atonement and gets a new lease on life
