JINNAH'S FATAL HANDICAP

This book on Jinnah and the Indian Partition attempts to analyse Jinnah's politics and his inflexible demand for the division of British India to Pakistan and India through the prism of the disease that eventually consumed him. Jinnah succumbed to tuberculosis on 11th September 1948 and suffered from TB probably from the late 1930's. Jinnah lived in an age when the cure for tuberculosis was still not available but Jinnah was unwilling or unable to get his hands on streptomycin that had been isolated in the 1940's and was available for sale in the USA. Could Jinnah's intransigence have been diluted had he taken effective treatment? Could Jinnah have provided a more enduring legacy to a nation he carved out and which today stands poised on the precipice of complete chaos?
