Description
BECKIE BROWN was an emotional virgin when she fell head over heels in love with CLINT ROGERS. Though only sixteen at the time, her feelings could not have been more real. Under different circumstances her first love could have become just a delicious memory to be brought forward and savored when she pleased - until she became pregnant and she and Clint were emotionally tied for life. Clint had every intention of marrying his young girlfriend when his other girlfriend, the rich and arrogant PATSY MILLER, discovers their secret; she fakes her own pregnancy and enlists the help of a friend to frame Clint for a heinous murder. Only Patsy's rich and influential father can save Clint from a life in prison. He accepts an offer that is too good to refuse and instead becomes imprisoned in a loveless marriage. Beckie is whisked out of town by her parents to save their reputation. Beckie and her older sister, Barb, secretly arrange for Barb to adopt the baby named Angel. Beckie never marries because no man can live up to the image of her lost love, Clint. Clint pines away for Beckie but stays with Patsy because of their son, Scott. In today's world, Beckie's pregnancy would be just a teen statistic but in 1957 it was a stigma to be dealt with by deception. During our visit to a small town in Oklahoma we find that Beckie's would-be accusers have many sins of their own hidden behind closed doors. Sixteen years later there is a night of revelations at the Miller mansion when Beckie finally discovers the true meaning of love.
