Description

Ready for some straight talk about stress in your school?

Most people aren't, you know. Many people are looking for the easy answer or the Magic Button they can use to prevent or remove stress instantly. On the other hand it is just fruitless to believe "I'll never be able to deal with......"

Success in managing stress in your school is not a matter of finding the magic button and it is not a matter of climbing Mount Everest. It's a straightforward process of following step-by-step procedures that other teachers have tested.

Team leaders in schools are becoming responsible for leading issues surrounding staff performance and supporting each other. They will need to deal with it quickly, easily and effectively. This book aims to aid you or your department to mange stress and improving your departmental support and practice towards staff surrounding you and staff who are experiencing stress.

The issue of stress is commonly addressed at whole school or self-addressed at classroom teacher level. Habitually, the role of the department is often left out of the discussion or seen as an offshoot of the whole school or college policy. This can be a major mistake. The faculty or department is sometimes the primary and most vital network of support for you and it is the place where most major issues can be resolved.

SOME EASY TIPS TO MANAGING STRESS!

Don’t Let Stress Bet You;

“I will not allow stress to affect me, I am confident in what I do and I am doing my best”

1. Plan, Plan, Plan: Be organised. Think ahead: long term, medium term, short term. Divide your time into chunks to plan time each week for certain tasks. Write it on your timetable if necessary. And stick to it.

2. Realistic: Don’t plan to do everything if you can’t manage it. There are only so many hours in the day and you must balance you work and life, so that you have a life!

3. Be Flexible: allow for time in your planning, where you will have to cope with unexpected demands

4. Make Lists: Reward yourself as you tick each one off!

5. Take a Minute; allow for some time during your day to tune out!

6. Create time for Exercise and mental space

7. Be Healthy: eat and drink (as in water) sensibly;

8. Do something YOU enjoy and look forward to each week. Inside or outside of work!

9. Ask for HELP if you feel plans are not going as you wanted and you begin to suffer.

Remember Stress is a mind-set that you can changed

“The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another.” William James
