The Queen’s Lives tells the story of how Queen Elizabeth II’s secret diaries were discovered after the fire at Windsor Castle in 1992 and subsequently stolen. I was able to obtain them and returned them to the Her Majesty, asking to be allowed to reveal some of the contents. The Queen graciously agreed.
In these pages we see her childhood revealed for the first time, as well as her deep longing for adventure. It was this longing, as well as her discontent with being a princess, that led to the secret life revealed in the charred volumes.
Throughout this account you will see that, as a Princess and throughout her reign, Her Majesty engaged in an ancient royal practice of disguising herself and going about as an ordinary person. The adventures that she had during these times and her activities as, among other things, a British Commando and an RAF Fighter Pilot, will amaze the reader. The same is true when you discover what really happened that night in 1982 when a man broke into Buckingham Palace and found his way into the Queen's bedroom.
The revelation that she helped to write some of the most moving pieces of music, that the world until now believed to be solely the work of Lennon and McCartney, will surely astonish you. So too will learning of her influential role in inventing the stories of JK Rowling!
