Description

This practical book tempts you with a great selection of wonderful walks!
Gozo, a small island with a rich history, provides many wonderful opportunities for walking. This book is aimed at people who enjoy walking mainly because of their interest in places and people, those for whom the journey is more important than the destination. This book provides maps and route descriptions for 10 great walks on Gozo which will bring you past almost all the key attractions of Gozo. The book includes sections on history, archaeology, geology and wildlife so that you get a fuller appreciation of the island’s rich cultural and environmental inheritance. Each individual walk is supported by a context section which gives an overview of the key features to be encountered along the route.
Each Walk (except the Gozo coastal walk)
- Leads you past a variety of landscapes and key features of historical, environmental and cultural interest
- Is of moderate length (about 4 hours) and can be shortened or extended to suit individual requirements
- Is described in detail and is set out clearly on a map
- Can be reached conveniently by bus or short taxi ride
- Can be done from Malta by taking an early morning ferry to Gozo and returning in the evening.

Walk No. 10 - The Gozo Coastal Walk, is a circular route around the entire island. The trail of 55 km is an enjoyable combination of limestone and earthen paths, rural tracks, minor roads and coastal promenade. It leads you past dramatic cliffs, tranquil valleys, traditional villages, ancient monuments and sandy beaches. As there is so much to see, examine and enjoy along the route it is recommended to foreign visitors that the walk be spread over a minimum of 5 days, with at least 4 nights spent on the island. A more detailed guide to the trail, together with options on accommodation, is given on our website www.walkgozo.com.
