📖 Description
The Search and Rescue Mission - U.S.S. Stark, Persian Gulf This book is based on actual events that occurred when an Iraqi Jet Fighter attacked a United States warship by two Exocet missiles while on a routine patrol mission in International waters the Persian Gulf, off the coast of the United Arab Emirates. It is my story along with a group of fellow sailors [ Citation: Rear Admiral, United States Navy Commander Middle East Forces ] who’s zealous performance during the search and recovery mission of the USS Stark, resulted in the successful damage control efforts. Working under dangerous and exhausting conditions, our tireless efforts and attention to detail were superb. During long, arduous hours, we met every task in a calm and efficient manner while operating alongside the burning and heavily damaged ship. Whether delivering firefighters and equipment or evacuating injured personnel, we continuously provided a fine example of ability, skill and determination. Our contributions both individually and as a member of the team had a major impact on saving the ship from sinking. In addition to the Stark bombing, I've included other hostile experiences that occurred during this time that included a Mine Laying boat incident and a Helicopter crash on the USS LaSalle. Also how I survived the pitfalls of PTS. The team member’s names have been changed for protection, and some dialog has been reconstructed.
