Description
Like any other profession, there are rudiments that have to be considered before taking up the service as a compere.
Not all stand up comedians are good at the trade. Those who parade themselves as master of ceremony (MC) in most cases do not understand or bother to consider the rudiments of playing the role of a compere in an occasion.
There are comperes and there are comperes. The difference is usually lear. To be a rave-making one, keep these on your left hand (surely, you know what that means).
For instance, one major thing I learn about being a compere is that you don’t just get into gathering and start talking. You need to do your home work. There is something I do (I gather information) from the invite to whatever information I can get about the people organizing the event and what precisely the event is all about.
In carrying out the assignment, pre- the event, I ask insightful questions about events when they come and these I’m so sure a lot of my colleagues don’t bother about. Equally, once I get to the venue of event, I read the mood of a particular event.
From experience, each occasion is unique. No two events are the same. Therefore, you must be able to read clearly the mood and spirit of the people hat you are about to have that event with.
And then you need to ask the organizers of the event what they want the show to look like though some are very difficult.Smart O. Oyejide is a mulch-talented Nigerian and a born-Again christian that resides in Ibadan Nigeria. He is a prolific writer, artist, playwright, poet and a successful motivational speaker that will always make you open wide your teeth to laugh when talking or making a speech even if you don’t intend so.
He does everything in praise to God who has provided him with the abundance of grace and strengthen.
As a minister of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ He is a pastor of Christian Church International under Bishop James Olalekan Oyelade.
