Description
On September 22nd 2014 NASA launched the first manned mission to Mars using a new and as yet untried fuel source. As the ship left Earth’s atmosphere it created an unexpected effect, it weakened the magnetic field that surrounds and protects our planet. As the effect seemed minimal, no one at NASA appeared to be concerned, and it seemed rightly so. The Earths magnetic shield fluctuates constantly, and if it were not for the unforeseen events that followed only three months later, their dismissal of the facts would have been appropriate.
On December 21st 2014 two years past the end of the Mayan calendar, a Coronal Mass Ejection erupted from the sun and headed towards earth. On impact with the already weakened magnetosphere the shield became damaged beyond its ability to repair. As the Earth’s atmosphere begins to ebb away, and our home planet starts to suffocate in the vacuum of space, the countdown to the extinction of all life on Earth has begun.
