Description
NAVAL SHIPS’ TECHNICAL MANUAL CHAPTER 320 ELECTRIC POWER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS
IMPORTANCE OF ELECTRIC POWER. Electric power is essential to a modern naval ship’s fighting and functional effectiveness. Electric power trains elevate gun turrets and missile launchers; operate the rudder’s hydraulic system; run auxiliaries; provide light; and power interior communication, weapons control, radio, radar, sonar, and missile systems. A ship without electric power is useless as a fighting or supporting unit and is almost totally defenseless against enemy attack.
