Description

THE MISSING POSTMAN... is a journey into the world of Zeb and Zoe and their quest to avenge their (separate) unhappy childhoods. They appear to have created an imaginary world. A world where they become 'Bonnie and Clyde' They have even aped their heroes and held up several stores in small-town Ireland, and are now holed up in the remote Comeragh farmhouse of Martin Og, a local hermit. All is not as it seems, however, and the more the story unfolds, the more we learn about Zeb's invalid mother, Lucy. Was she Martin's lover? Or Harry's? - one of their robbery victims. And is one of them his father? There is also the mysterious disappearance of Martin's brother...the missing postman of the title; what connection did he have with the one-time vivacious Lucy? Harry turns up at the farmhouse, to complicate matters, where Martin’s hatred of him soon becomes apparent. When Martin manages to turn the tables on the two robbers, one of his first acts is to shoot Harry dead. As the story reaches its climax, we find that Harry is not his first victim, and that Zoe has an agenda all of her own. 3m 1f

PUT YOUR SWEET LIPS…set in the summer of 1963, this play tells the tale of the formation of THE YOUNG DEVILS show-band. Formed by a group of youths who work in the packing room of the local mill, and beset by rivalries and petty jealousies, the group at last seem to be on the road to success when they are joined by a new female lead singer from London. Sandra, however, is more than they bargained for, and after a chaotic concert they fall foul of both the parish priest and the parish council. The ensuing squabbling reveals the skeletons in the various cupboards, culminating in an act of violence that leaves a mark on each of the band members. 10m 3f

FRIGHTENING THE CROWS... On the surface Granagh Cross seems an easygoing sort of place, but as the characters reveal themselves, we find a mixture of ambition, disappointment, frustration and apathy. Danny-Boy is a waster - a rebel without a cause, if you like. Sinead feels trapped and wants to escape. Molly is looking for love (of a sort) Nonie finds love - without even looking for it, and Carty finds his enjoyment by going to funerals. Nothing much seems to happen in their lives until Danny-Boy and Chancer decide to liven things up. Old angers surface, and secrets begin to trickle out. Then a prank goes disastrously wrong….6m 3f
