Description

Perhaps no group of people is more incorporated into many Americans everyday lives as professional athletes. They are in nearly every conversation, television ad and a large majority of the news highlights. With this large audience, it is to be expected that a large number of children will be exposed to these athletes and their actions almost daily. With this becoming more and more the case, parents have come to expect athletes to provide a positive role model for their kids to look to and emulate. This expectation has made it the norm for individuals to react with shock and offense when an athlete fails to live up to this high mark. This should not be the case. Athletes are also human beings and make mistakes that are unfortunately then magnified by the media. By putting undue stress on these already stressed out individuals we make them more prone to fall and also attempt to mask the shortcomings of the parents of children today. If you want to read more about athletes as role models then check out this awesome read by Brett Siddoway today!
