Description

There are lots of job applicants out there chasing a limited number of positions. You need an edge.
Being unemployed is not fun. It tears at you deep inside and makes you question you worth.
Anything you can do to shorten the time you spend between jobs is going to directly improve your finances and your self-image.
Many job applicants send out hundreds of résumés and don’t seem to get any phone calls for interviews. Their efforts are wasting their time and leading to disappointment and discouragement. You don’t have to be one of them.
I and my clients have used these same techniques again and again to turn job postings into interviews. Sometimes, I have turned down a job, but I couldn’t turn down a job that hadn’t been offered. And, I have to tell you, it feels a whole lot better to be in control of the situation and be able to compare competing job offers and turn some down so that you can take the job you really want. But, if you cannot get the interview, you cannot get the offer. And if you cannot get them to read your résumé, you won’t get an interview.
This book will help you to handle craft cover letters so that you can make the best impression and get a job interview while others just getting rejection letters.
AND - along the way, I have gathered up links to the top cover letter and job search resources available today and put them all in one place for you.
So, don’t just take my word for it. Read this book and then get a couple of other books on cover lettters so that you can be positive you are getting the best advice money can buy.

Why I Wrote This Book

Many years ago, I found myself looking for a job. A good friend took me under his tutelage and gave me some excellent coaching on how to write an effective cover letter that would get people to read my résumé.
I have used his advice ever since and it has helped me get the job I wanted, more than once. I never forgot what he taught me.
Today, I do a bit of contract work. It usually has a similar entry point as if I were looking for a job (because I actually am - just not one that is lasting for years and years).
Every time I respond to a job posting, I include a cover letter to call attention to things that link my résumé to the job requirements in ways the reader may not see right away. I also use it to insert things that may not be listed in a specific version of my résumé - that way I don’t need to have several different versions of my résumé. I can limit the versions of it to specific industries.
I noticed that lots of my clients struggle to get hiring managers to read their résumés. I have also seen recently that many “experts” are advising to not include cover letters. What if I told you that hiring managers tell me that they are much more likely to read a cover letter than they are a résumé? It is true! So, if they read the cover letter, it just may encourage them enough to take the time to actually look at your qualifications.
I and my clients have had many instances where a cover letter made all the difference. It made us stand out from the crowd and it got the résumé read - which is its only purpose.
I decided to share what I know with others so that they can find it easier to quickly get to the job they want instead of facing the disappointment of sending out lots of résumés and not getting interviews.
This book is one in a series that will help you to Get and Keep the Job You Want. It will help you by teaching you how to get people to actually read your résumé when you send it to them.
