Sword-Lily: The Last Days of the Knights of Malta 1798

This book, written in 1843, tells the story of how the rule of the knights was brought to an abrupt end when Napoleon took possession of Malta in a matter of days. The story is told through the eyes of a beautiful young Maltese lady who falls in love with an aspiring knight from Brittany. It describes the reigns of the last two Grand Masters of the Order as a story of tragic love, treachery, crime and murder, slowly unravels. This author did an outstanding job in researching the historical facts having no doubt met with the last remaining eyewitnesses of that period.
