An excerpt from “Andalusia, Goddess of the Sea:â€
Later that afternoon, Andalusia’s mother left her unceremoniously at the market, telling her that the family who bought her services would be by soon.
“Do not move from this spot,†her mother warned and quickly moved off into the crowd, leaving Andalusia alone in a dark empty stall, where normally skinned rabbits hung from sharp hooks. Andalusia adjusted herself against the low wall of the deserted booth, trying not to retch from the smell of rotting meat, dried blood and the bleak feeling of being all alone in the world.
Dutifully, she crouched tighter against the rough wall she had been leaning on. She had not moved from the spot. Her mother had been gone a long while, and Andalusia could feel alarm slowly rearing its ugly head. Her stomach churned from hunger, and she thought perhaps she could go to one of the vendors and beg for just a morsel or two. But she had promised she would not move.
Rane hopes her book inspires women, as well as entertains them. “Andalusia Goddess of the Sea,’ opens the karmic portal between life, death and rebirth and will transport readers back and forward in time so they can scale the depths of truth with courage, and evaluate the now in their lives,†says Rane. “The spirit and strength of women hold the key to the destiny of this planet – their nurturing, beauty and love will guide us all to the deeper knowledge of our souls.â€
