The Declan Diaries: Love is out there ... somewhere

Declan, or Deccy to his friends, is a Dalmatian dog with simple needs - decent food, a walk every day and the company of his owner Suzy, whose life he observes from his unique perspective as the narrator of the story. Suzy, once Daddy’s darling daughter, is used to getting what she wants and since Daddy has passed on she’s been looking for another man to treat her like a princess. Suzy has her own house in the depths of rural Ireland, her best friend Maddy is only a few miles away, Deccy is a champion show dog strutting his stuff most weekends and everything in the garden’s rosy. Well nearly. Enter rival exhibitor Aine, a bigger bitch than anything on four legs and determined to win at all costs, the boring but dependable Paul, Suzy’s interfering mother, Deccy’s apparent failure as a stud dog with the snappy Bella and some home truths she’d rather not hear, and Suzy’s life starts to show a few cracks. Suzy loses control of her perfect life and descends into meltdown. After a harsh wakeup call she realises she has to change if she is going to get what is really important in life. Too late, she discovers someone very special was under her nose all along, but now he’s gone.
