Questions abound in the Underworld about the Summer Queen; who is she to Hades, where did she come from, and where did she go? Over 2,400 years ago Hades began sending Trackers into the living realm, hellhounds tasked with the specific purpose of finding and returning a woman called the Summer Queen and her protector Cerberus to the realm of the Underworld. The Trackers never thought past their stated mission to the consequences of the Summer Queen’s return. Now she has been found, but her return is just the beginning.
Allie is called the Summer Queen, a woman that Hades visits only when his wife is away, or she was until Persephone learned of her existence. Allie’s role in Hades’ life and marriage has been a subject of Underworld gossip for centuries, ever since she disappeared following a confrontation with Hades. She ran, taking only Cerberus with her, and she has been running ever since. A threat to the hellhounds has forced her out of hiding but returning to the Underworld holds it’s own risks.
In times long forgotten the hellhounds were created to protect the Summer Queen, a veritable army of shapeshifting warriors with strength and speed humans could never match. The Trackers are an elite group, the most talented hellhounds of their generations, chosen by Hades himself to find the Queen they were created to serve or join her in her exile. They have spent centuries in the living realm searching for the Summer Queen and they have finally succeeded, but she is nothing like what they expected. Their search has ended but their real mission may have just begun. Can they keep her safe in the realm they were born to defend from dangers they never expected?
Now that Allie has returned to the Underworld friend and foe alike begin to gather. Some want to protect while others want to destroy. An attack inside the Summer Queen’s palace reveals a traitor even amongst the Trackers, threatening her safety in the realm she once called home. When Hades once again demands she meet his wife the stage is set for a confrontation between the Summer Queen and Persephone where secrets will be revealed and pasts will be confronted. The Underworld may never be the same.
