MonoDude: Monomyth Meets Christian Worldview

When a hand emerges from their television screen, twins Jack and Jill grab hold and find themselves on a whirlwind tour of the hero's journey, the most popular plot line of our day. Their epic tour guide, MonoDude, a.k.a. "the Chosen One," wants the twins to recognize his starring role in spite of his various disguises, but they find instead that the story itself points to a true hero, of whom MonoDude is completely unaware.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the one true Hero in the unfolding history of redemption. What does this have to do with the way our children encounter stories? Everything. Do they unconsciously make themselves the fulfillment of the hero, or do they come looking for Christ? Monomyth, the prevailing narrative in our culture, promotes the self-hero yet at the same time unwittingly points to the Savior and his journey. The goal of this book is to help Christian families to think critically and biblically about films, movies, T.V. shows, and literature, and through that critical thinking, come to a deeper understanding of Bible and theology.
