Pamela Jones is an up and coming artist, a gifted emotional girl who devoted everything that she has to her work. She creates pieces that adorn the walls of her family home- sculptures, stained-glass ,frames- but these aren't your standard pieces of art. These are different, special; bestowed with a gift that no one else can give.
With a kiss and a kind word, Pamela 's art can come to life, feeling thinking and speaking as if it were another member of her family. Pamela gives that gift of life to Percy; a special, beautiful frame and the newest member of the Jones family.
But Pamela doesn't know that her art lives, so as much as Percy wants to talk to the girl that created him, as much as he wants to thank her and tell her how much he loves her, he can't. And now Pamela is going away- taking a long holiday out of the country- and Percy doesn't know when he'll see her again. What's more, Percy will be left alone in the house; alone with talking furniture and the obnoxious dress dummy; alone with a strange new family and curious children; alone with that odd, tippy-tappy sound that sometimes keep him awake at night.
