Seamus Heaney: Laureate of Limboland (Burning Issues of Our Time: a Cultural View Book 2)

How did an Irish farmer’s son come to win the world’s leading literary award in 1995? Through a survey of the impact of Seamus Heaney’s background on his world-renowned poetry, this essay seeks to explain how works of culture have been redirected to serve another purpose. Poesy attempts to supersede the entrenched customs that have long preoccupied the people of the troubled region of Northern Ireland, Heaney’s ‘Limboland'.
