Description
Local vets Victoria and Jonathan Lyons seem to have everything—a perfect marriage, a beautiful five-year-old daughter, Emily, and a successful business. Until they discover Emily has a rare and fatal illness.

Early trials show that a temporary fix would be to transplant a hormone from a living donor. However in the trials; the donors had died within twenty four hours. They have no choice but to accept their daughter is going to die.

When Jonathan is suddenly killed in a farming accident, Victoria turns to her sick father-in-law, Frank, for help. A series of events present Victoria and Frank with a situation that, although illegal, could help save Emily.

Will they take it?

Content Advisory: This book is intended for mature audiences and contains graphic and disturbing imagery.

Review by Bedazzled Reading...

Victoria and Jonathan Lyons seems to have it all – a good marriage, a beautiful daughter, a successful business. But then they discover Emily has a rare, fatal illness, and their entire world shatters. Then Jonathan passes away in a farming accident, as if the family didn’t have enough tragedy to deal with already. Victoria turns to her sick father-in-law, Frank, for help. Victoria must make a choice, an impossible choice – and the book raises the question how far one would go for their children.

The book is set on a farm, and that’s just what makes it so odd and surreal – the normality of the character’s lives, until tragedy strikes. The book is classified as a thriller, but it packs a lot of punch, sometimes even venturing into horror territory. I would say it’s not for the faint of heart. The characters are easy to relate to, especially Victoria. Her struggle was realistic and heart-breaking.

Once I start reading, I couldn’t stop. Definitely one of the better thrillers out there.
