Description

The Philippines is a beautiful nation of more than 7,000 islands in Southeast Asia that often attracts Western men who are searching for love, happiness and in many cases, marriage. The majority of the people of the nation are the most hospitable, friendly people you'll find anywhere on earth. They are talented in song and dance, offer an array of indigenous foods that is to die for, and will give a guest their last bit of food in most cases to prove their sincerity.
However, there are many among the native population who view Westerners as little more than ATM machines, and though they are the great minority of an otherwise great people, they can often seem as if they are the majority to the visitor, because if you are a Westerner, they will seek you out. They can see you coming from a mile away, and when they do, they often begin hatching plans.
This is the first in a series of eBooks, written by an American who lived in the Philippines for five years, which is an attempt to warn all Western men who are planning to visit the beautiful islands of the Philippines for the first time. Though, by far, the majority of the Filipino people are the salt of the earth, there are too many who are planning to take you for everything you have. That pretty little chat girl that you are talking to online (who is also talking to a dozen other Western men, and who has a husband and children, whether she's told you the opposite or not), is the starting point of the fleecing that may be awaiting you, if it's not begun already (think Western Union money transfers).
This edition of this new series addresses the chat girl, her family (rather, village) that you'll be expected to support upon arriving, and hits on other aspects of the culture which one should be aware of, including the cross-dressers, known locally as "baklah" (bah-claw), or "byut" (bi-yute) that are often near impossible to tell are not women, but really men, until sometimes, it's too late.
*Author's note- The author not only lived in the Philippines for five years, but married a Filipina and is the proud father of a child via that union. He in no way hates the Philippines or the Filipino people. He's anxiously awaiting his next visit to the islands to visit in-laws and old friends. This work is not meant to be derogatory toward a great nation and a great people whom he deeply respects. It is simply meant to give forewarning to innocent, kindhearted, good intentioned men who do not deserve to go through some of the nightmares they'll no doubt face if they are not forewarned.
