The Shepherd's Tale: A Christmas Story

The Christmas Nativity is a comforting and familiar scene during the holiday season. But that first Christmas, long ago in a humble stable, was witnessed by a chosen few. We have all heard of the Angels singing to shepherds in the night. We sing the carols and old Christmas hymns each year with hearts full of holiday cheer.
But what of those shepherds, the lowest rung of society, in a land occupied by harsh oppressors. The whole country was crying out to God for redemption and freedom from Rome. Yet God chose simple shepherds to be the first to hear the good news.
What would it have been like to see Jesus moments after his birth?
