The Walls: A Mining Novel (Unofficial Novel Book)
Steve felt a rush of cool air blow around him. He had just been transported from his modest home out in the hills to the middle of a busy street center. He could barely hear himself think over the shouts and murmurs of the people around him. Honestly, he had hoped he might arrive on an off day, but it was just his luck that he would arrive on one of the busiest days on the week. He finally opened his eyes and took in his surroundings. All around him, people walked quickly and never stopped. They were making their way past him and over to the side walks and gates. Steve wanted to try and get out of the center of the street, but was having a hard time getting around the dense groups of people. He was eventually able to make it to the sidewalk, though it took more than his fair share of elbowing to do so. Once they, he needed to find a map of the area. He had read a guide to Garton city, and there should be maps in chests all over the place. He looked and looked, but couldn't find anything with all the people surrounding him. Before he gave up, he finally saw a large sign with an arrow pointing down that said maps. He worked his way through a cluster of people until he was at the base of the pole that the sign was on. In front of him was an old, brown, wooden chest. When he opened it, he could feel it creak, but he couldn't hear it over the crowd. Inside of it was a pile of maps. Steve grabbed one and took a look. He saw that he was in the town's square. He needed to find the gate that led to the new arrivals station so he could get rested up for the big day.
