But no doubt in its capacity for school use it can be carried much further. In the first place, from its musicological significance it has value, as the date and origin of each choral tune are given. Also of historical interest are the names of many 17th-century composers, such as Schein, Crueger, Hassler, Pachelbel, Praetorius, Isaak, Vulpius and Hiller.
