A Betrayed Affair: My Sangre de Christo Love Story

This is a story that I originally published on my blog in 2011. As a teenager, I fell in love with an ancient city that sits in the heart of the Sangre de Christo Mountains of New Mexico. I was consumed by the art and the culture and my romance with it set me off of a life long journey of searching for more. We parted ways, that city and I, but I remained nostalgic for the relationship we shared. Twenty years later we returned to our beloved Santa Fe and this is the piece I wrote after that visit. Immediately following this visit, we set off on another journey that lasted for years. I have not yet returned.
