The day comes & great slaughter ensues, lasting four months. Sgt McClusky tracks down arch enemy, Gordon Highlander Hamish Eadie whilst Alice Foster & Ned North take care of threats & intrigue at home from criminal gangs & Irish Nationalist groups. Alice receives unlikely help from an old adversary. Sam Tooms realises his dream & becomes a deadly sniper tangling with ex-Boer sharpshooter Lotar Viljoen. Nurse Lucy Lawson faces a breakdown and VAD Susie Tallboy nurses a disfigured patient through pioneering and debilitating facial reconstructive surgery. Cora Judde has to come to terms with her son Ridley’s exotic girl Misha and Lieutenant Franklin has to deal with a man & a mule. Two Irish veterans have to deal with life after amputation & begin to question their loyalties. Johnny Grimes recovers from tangling with the murderous Hamish Eadie & falls for Nurse Kitty Smallwood but has to deal with Irish Republicans chasing a debt.
