IDEOLOGICAL WARFARE: Neoconservatism, Market Fundamentalism and the IMF/World Bank in the Caribbean

This book looks at three countries in the Caribbean where ideological transformation from Marxist, socialist and state-dominated economic ideology to free market economics occurred and investigates how this transformation took place. It looks, in particular, at three countries - Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana. How did these Caribbean countries that were Marxist (in the case of Guyana), socialist (in the case of Jamaica) and state-dominated (in the case of Trinidad and Tobago) come to adopt free market economics? In the process of this investigation the author analyses ‘ideological warfare’, the various forms that ideological transformation takes, and the role of the World Bank and IMF in these instances.
