My name is Steve and I like to eat. I bet you do too. The difference between us and the leaner ones in society, is this. The leaner ones among us have something inside them that says, "I'm full". I have honestly only experienced "full" a few times in my life before this. What full meant to me was, I could not shovel in another bite! I ate because it tasted good, not because I was hungry! I never really allowed myself to get hungry, therefor did not really know what hunger felt like! When you are addicted to foods that hide your "I'm Full Switch", you really don't stand a chance! So if you can relate to any of this…you my friend, have found the right book for you!
I discovered what I call, The Paleo Lifestyle quite by accident. I say by accident because I needed something that wasn't a "Diet" but rather a Lifestyle Change that enabled me to eat what I wanted, when I wanted, and still lose weight. I did not want to do the trial and error with other "Diets". I knew I could lose weight with a Low-Carbohydrate "Diet" but could not live on that forever. So here is what I did.
I needed something. I knew it had to be a combination of things. All of the "Diets" I had done before were exactly that, a "Diet". You start the "Diet", you fall off the "Diet" and you are back where you started! The reason we get off the diet is because, "Diets Don't Work" and, they are too restrictive.
Do you like to exercise? Is that something you have had good results with? I have had great results with exercise. I have done virtually no exercise changing my lifestyle other than a few walks with my wife. Remember I was determined to create something I could live with for me and you! I figured if I had to survive on nuts and twigs with an hour and half of exercise every day, it would be a deal breaker for me. I know I am not alone on that issue. Am I right? You bet I am. You see, I am just like you. I don't want to walk around thinking about my next meal. In fact after your first 3 or 4 weeks on The Paleo Lifestyle you will have eliminated your cravings for Sugar and Simple Carbohydrates. Amazingly, my appetite is nothing like it was. Remember, I ate because it tasted good. Not because I was hungry. My wife can't believe the difference in the amounts of food I take in. I thought there was really nothing left for me. I thought I had seen it all, done it all but now I have a lifestyle I can not only enjoy for the rest of my life. I don't have to kill myself exercising to make that happen! Sit back and try to imagine how you would look and feel, if you no longer had cravings for Sugar and Simple Carbohydrates. I look back now as I watch my weight fall off of me, using The Paleo Lifestyle and think about how I will look several months from now. I am currently experiencing an 8.5 lb decrease per month since I changed my lifestyle.
I was determined to make this work. I am married to a beautiful Italian woman who is my polar opposite in terms of body shape. She was 5' feet tall and 95 lbs soaking wet when we got married. 41 years later she is exactly the same dimensions today. She is still as beautiful today, as she was the day I married her. My wife however is one of those who does not, share the same genes as I. She deals with food much differently than I. What's important here is, she validates what I am doing. My wife confirmed for me how the types of food we take in, can cause unusual cravings in me, but not necessarily in her! Especially when it concerns Sugar and Simple Carbohydrates!
