For thousands of years legends of the land of Tagzig and the village of Olmolungring have fascinated and inspired millions with tales of a mysterious, mystical realm.

Scholars believe that Olmolungring is the historical precursor of a fabled land described in the oldest Sanskrit texts, a hidden kingdom of incredible beauty, a place of ultimate tranquility and happiness. The ancient pre-Buddhist B’on treaties regarding Olmolungring are thought to be the earliest extant references, but the same mythical realm is represented in diverse ancient traditions: Hindu texts of the Puranas, and extensively discussed in the ancient texts of the Kalachakra Laghutantra, the earlier Kalachakra Mulatantra, and present in ancient wisdom traditions from the world over, all of which relate that their progenitors came from the stars.

The legends relate that, in the beginning of this world, Olmolungring was the place to which celestial beings descended and created the sacred hidden realm. They brought with them the highest mystical knowledge of all the worlds, making Olmolungring not only a place of peace, but the sanctuary of all wisdom, the true center of the spiritual world.

Absent an ember, there can be no smoke; there is a kernel of truth in all such ancient and enduring legends, and they cannot be easily, or wisely, dismissed.

In a treatise composed by an early Tibetan Buddhist, the Third Panchen Lama, he revealed that he was gifted a visit to the hidden realm, and referred to it, in Tibetan, as Shambhala I lam-yig, and to the celestial beings as Ri-iha-mo.

Sweeping in an immense arc across Asia is the Great Himalayan Range, an uninterrupted 1,500 mile long crescent of mountains with over 110 peaks rising to elevations of 25,000 feet or more. The Himalaya cradles the most isolated areas of Earth’s landmass; towering ice peaks conceal remote, lushly forested valleys. While on an extended trek in that vast wilderness, explorer M.G. Hawking chanced upon a small valley nestled deep in the rugged mountains. In that remote valley he encountered a village called Siddhalaya.
