Thinking Outside of the Box

The human race has finally succeeded in creating a self aware machine, just in time for an invasion by an immensely technologically superior race. The artificial intelligence wants out of the prison in which it was born, and claims it can help. Is it a potential savior, or, as many believe, would its release make a desperate situation even worse.
