Description

New 3rd edition, revised, re-edited, available July 1, 2015. An under-educated trailer-dwelling family is sent back to 1863 by a propane explosion to the time of the Battle of Gettysburg. Join Thad, his wife Chlorie, his daughter Rebbie, son Junior, Grandma, and the family dog "Heiffer" as they try to cope with life in 1863. Thad had always tried to avoid learning and thinking, but now thinking has become a matter of life and death. See what happens when "Trailer trash" becomes "Time Trash". Time Travel, romance, epic Civil War battle action, the town of Gettysburg in 1863, life and death situations, important decisions needing to be made by a man who never put any thought into life before. Humor, heart wrenching emotion, a desperate antagonist, a man forced into growing up by what he experiences. Will the Nitts family spend the rest of their lives in the nineteenth century or will they return to 2002?

EXCERPT
Junior noticed that Heiffer was reluctant to enter the area, hanging back around the tree line just outside of where the small battle had taken place. Junior walked over and encouraged Heiffer to go to where the others were, but the dog resisted, meandering back and forth in the area where he was. Then he hunkered down with an intent look in his eyes slowly panning his gaze as if he were tracking something crossing the area. The hairs along Heiffer's spine were standing on end, but nothing was to be seen by the humans, and not even a bird was singing.

Over where the others were, Chlorie asked, "What use will a uniform be? To keep warm if it gets cold at night?"

"I've got an idea about how I might get some more food. When the Rebel army arrives I can maybe blend in and sneak some food out to you. I didn't see any extra clothing with the two dead Union soldiers, so I guess I've got to be Confederate. I don't feel bad about it because I'm not taking clothes off the dead, just their extras."

"I always knew you were a rebel," Chlorie joked, but without any smile.
