Description
‘Big moments in Judges’ is the seventh in the series, Bible Study. Book by Book. This series uses a whole book approach. In other words, each Bible study covers an entire Bible book and the focus is on the biggest moments of each book.
I led a group who worked through the entire Bible, book by book, in just over a year. This series is the fruit of those Bible studies. These studies are suitable for any adult whose aim it is to work through the entire Bible, book by book, in just over a year.
However, it could be of particular value for persons who new to Christianity, eager to get an overview of the entire Bible in a relatively short time.
This series is neither academic nor dogmatic. It is about Bible knowledge and the ‘bigger picture’. In other words, it shows how each Bible book fits into the rest of Scripture. It also highlights the value of each individual book for modern Christians today. Those who understand the wider biblical context, and the major flow and biblical themes, will have a better understanding of individual biblical passages.
A whole book approach has distinct benefits for understanding Scripture:
• It enables one to see each Bible book as a complete unit.
• It enhances understanding of the contents, purpose, and main themes of individual books.
• However, it will enhance a clearer understanding of the grand themes in Scripture as a whole.
• It can prevent one from taking passages out of context and avoid a piece-meal approach.
For centuries, the Bible was a respected source of wisdom in all areas of life. That appears to be changing. My prayer is for all Christians to rediscover the importance of reading, knowing, and understanding the Bible.
